Dumpster delicacy... stir-fry from the trash.

The fork. The AMP wire strippers. Only the fork and the tool. The fork is part of a set that my Mother bought back in the 60's. I bought the AMP strippers. Everything else was picked out of a dumpster: the plate, the floppy disks, the keyboard, the CD-ROM, the desktop and... the food! Above all, the food. All the vegetables, that are part of my delicious stir-fry/steamed veggies on bread, are out of the trash from various local grocery stores. The dish consists of carrots, broccoli, celery, green onions, mushrooms, snow peas, grated cheddar cheese and all on french bread.

I'm not much of a chef or photographer. Certainly not a food photographer. Certainly not a preparer of food for show. However, the meal tasted much better than it looks and is probably more nutritious than anything you'd buy at McDonald's or even a sit-down restaurant.

Grocery chains and other businesses promote their magnanimity and "giving" during the holidays. Especially, the banner support of Food Banks, so that "nobody goes hungry this holiday season." Some stores encourage customers to donate cash to purchase food for the poor. All the time the stores themselves fill their dumpsters and trash compactors with perfectly good food. Some of which is not even out of date.
